🚫 E-Rickshaw & Rickshaw Movement Restricted on Key Roads During Rush Hours in West Tripura

  Agartala, 16 April 2025: In an official order issued by the District Magistrate of West Tripura, Dr. Vishal Kumar, movement of all types of slow-moving vehicles, including E-rickshaws and rickshaws, has been restricted during peak traffic hours — from 8:30 AM to 11:00 AM and 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM — on two key routes in Agartala city. The restricted routes are: IGM to RMS Chowmuhani via B.K Road to Colonel Chowmuhani, North Gate, and Mutriprangan (2.5 km stretch) IGM to TRTC Crossing via B.K Chowmuhani (660 meters) This decision, based on communication from the Superintendent of Police (Traffic), aims to ease congestion and ensure public safety. The restriction comes into immediate effect .

The programme aimed to raise consciousness among citizens of the Muslim community about the newly amended Waqf law and its significance in ensuring justice and transparency. During his address, Dr. Saha highlighted the long-standing weaknesses of the Waqf Act of 1995, pointing out how the loopholes in the earlier version had severely affected the poor and backward sections of the Muslim population. “For years, the underprivileged Muslim community suffered due to the lack of proper protection under the old law.
