  Agartala, April 12, 2025: CM Manik Saha Graces Chakma Community’s Grand Bizu Festival in Gomati District Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha today took part in the vibrant celebration of the 23rd State-Level Buisu Festival at Bashi Chandra Para School Ground , Jalea, in Tripura’s Gomati district. Organised by Tripura Chubulai Buthu , the festival is the biggest annual cultural occasion for the Chakma community , marking their traditional New Year with joy, colour, and unity. Tensions flared in Kailashahar and Sunamura today as protests erupted over the proposed Waqf

Today on 12th April 2025, Amendment Bill, 2025 , which was recently introduced in the Lok Sabha. The Bill seeks to modernise the governance of Waqf properties —Islamic religious endowments—by streamlining the process of identifying waqf lands, ensuring transparency, and improving accountability in their management. However, several groups have raised concerns about potential misuse and loss of community control over these properties. In Kailashahar , a protest march organised by the Joint Forum began from Tilabazar and was to conclude at the old SDM office. However, when the procession reached Kubjar , police intervened, halting its progress. The situation quickly escalated into a violent clash, with protesters reportedly throwing stones at the police.
