Agartala, April 5: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Agartala West Police detained a habitual offender, Mangal Deep Biswas, late Thursday night from the Battala Market area for possession of a large quantity of Yaba tablets. Acting on a tip-off, law enforcement officials seized approximately 2,000 Yaba tablets from Biswas, with the market value estimated at over ₹2.5 lakh. According to SDPO Debprasad Roy, the accused is a repeat offender and had previously been convicted under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in 2023. He has now been arrested once again for his alleged involvement in drug peddling activities.
