The arrests were made following a specific case (No. 34/2025) registered at the East Agartala PS, highlighting the police’s continued efforts to curb rising thefts in the area. The accused, known for their involvement in multiple property crimes, were apprehended by a team of officers and staff from the East Agartala PS. The recovery of stolen items, including gas cylinders and temple cash, underscores their involvement in a series of thefts.   Agartala, March 20: The Unakoti District Consumer Protection Court has directed Tripura Gramin Bank to pay ₹15,000 in compensation to a customer, Dr. Paresh Chandra Modak, for unauthorised deductions from his savings account. The ruling came after Dr. Modak filed a case against the bank for unlawfully deducting ₹120 from his account in 2022 and 2023, in violation of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) regulations.   Dr. Modak, a resident of Dharmanagar and owner of Modak Homeo Clinic, alleged that the deductions were made without prior notice, as mandated by the RBI. Despite submitting a formal complaint to the bank, no resolution was provided. The issue escalated when the manager of the Dharmanagar branch cited a new policy, effective from November 7, 2022, which allowed deductions for non-maintenance of the minimum balance. Agartala: A 400-seat community hall is being constructed in Vaishnavtila, under Ward No. 49 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation. The construction of the hall, being built at a cost of ₹1.23 crore, is progressing rapidly. On Thursday, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar inspected the construction site. He was accompanied by local MLA Minarani Sarkar, Deputy Mayor Monica Das Dutta, Ward No. 49 Corporator Harisadhan Debnath, Corporator Bapi Das, and others.   Mayor Deepak Majumdar stated that the construction of the community hall will be completed within the next three months.
