FPO Fair Inaugurated at Purbasha Ground, Showcases Tripura’s Unique Agri Products

Agartala, 16th February 2025: The FPO Fair was inaugurated today at Purbasha Ground by Minister Ratan Lal Nath, along with Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder, Rajeeb Bhattacharya, and other dignitaries. The event saw the participation of numerous agricultural officials and farmers from across Tripura, showcasing a variety of unique agricultural products. Stalls displayed organic vegetables, millets, grains, and Tripura’s specialty products like Black Rice and Kali Khasar Rice, highlighting the state’s rich agricultural diversity.   The fair is part of the Indian government’s initiative to form 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) nationwide, aimed at empowering small and marginal farmers. FPOs enable farmers to collectively enhance production, processing, and marketing, ensuring fair prices and reducing middlemen exploitation. The event, attended by 28 participants from the Kakraban subdivision, was inaugurated by the Joint Director of the research centre and other dignitaries. The program aims to provide hands-on agricultural training and insights to the participants. As part of the initiative, an agricultural tour to Kakraban has been planned, offering practical exposure to farming techniques and innovations. The training camp seeks to empower rural youth with knowledge and skills to enhance agricultural productivity and sustainability in the region.

Agartala, Feb 17: The Tripura Jan Adhikar Sangram Parishad announced a three-hour sit-in protest at Paradise Chowmuhani on February 20, highlighting 22 key demands. During a press conference today, the organisation’s leaders outlined their demands, focusing on issues ranging from minority rights to employment and social welfare.   The demands include stringent action against communal and hate-mongering elements, an end to state-sponsored attacks on religious minorities, particularly Muslims, and legal action against those involved in the Kaitarbari and Kadamtala incidents. Agartala, Feb 17: The Traffic Department has launched a joint operation to tackle the persistent traffic congestion in the bustling GB market area. Led by Additional Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Sudhambika R, IPS, the initiative aims to curb the rampant illegal parking of cars, motorbikes, and scooters, which has been causing severe traffic jams and disrupting the smooth flow of vehicles.
