Unakoti Ashokashtami Fair Begins with Grandeur and Devotion

 

Agartala, April 4, 2025: The sacred pilgrimage site of Unakoti transformed into a vibrant centre of devotion and tradition as the much-awaited Ashokashtami Fair commenced today. Thousands of devotees gathered to witness the grand inauguration, which was attended by Cabinet Minister for Social Welfare & Social Education, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Labour Department, Shri Tinku Roy, along with several dignitaries. The event reflected the deep-rooted spiritual and cultural heritage of the region.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Shri Tinku Roy highlighted the significance of the Ashokashtami Fair, stating that it embodies the faith and traditions of countless devotees over generations. He further emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving such historical and religious sites. During the ceremony, he also felicitated several socially active individuals for their commendable contributions to society.

Following the inauguration, the Minister visited various stalls at the fair, engaging with vendors and artisans showcasing a variety of traditional and handcrafted items. The fairground was filled with the aroma of incense, the resonance of devotional chants, and the vibrant energy of thousands of devotees offering prayers to Lord Shiva. The grandeur of the evening aarti added to the spiritual ambiance, creating an unforgettable experience for visitors.
