Agartala, [25th April 2025]: Veteran Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader and former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar addressed a gathering at Shakuntala Road, delivering a strong message against communalism and social media-driven divisiveness. The event, organized by the CPIM, saw Sarkar emphasizing India's secular ethos while condemning attempts to polarize society.
"The nation belongs to all its citizens, not to any particular group claiming ancestral ownership," asserted Sarkar, a member of the CPIM Politburo. He urged collective resistance against terrorism, stating, "Insurgency has no religion or community—it is a threat to all and must be opposed unitedly." His speech highlighted concerns over rising hate speech online and called for vigilance to preserve social harmony.
Sarkar criticized forces exploiting communal sentiments for political gains, stressing that progress requires inclusive development. The gathering, attended by party cadres and locals, echoed his call for solidarity against extremism.
The program concluded with a renewed commitment to grassroots mobilization for secular values and peace, reinforcing the CPIM's stance against divisive politics.
