Agartala, Mar 18: Consumers from various districts of Tripura gathered at the TUDA office today, voicing their frustration over the prolonged delay in receiving their promised flats under the Lighthouse housing project at Agartala Border Golchakkar. The project, initially scheduled for completion in 2022, remains unfinished, leaving buyers in distress.
The protesters alleged that despite making payments in multiple installments to the TUDA office, no significant progress has been made. Many homebuyers, who had expected timely possession of their flats, now face uncertainty. They demanded either a full refund of their payments or the immediate handover of the promised housing units.
During the demonstration, representatives of the protesting group met with the state’s Joint Secretary, formally submitting an appeal addressed to the Chief Minister. They urged the government to take swift action to resolve the issue and ensure that they are not left in financial and housing insecurity.
The protestors expressed deep dissatisfaction over the prolonged inaction but remained hopeful that the state authorities would address their grievances promptly. Many affected buyers emphasised that continued delays have caused significant financial and emotional distress, making an immediate resolution crucial.
