Concerns Raised Over Health Center Construction Near Fourteen Gods Temple

Agartala, Mar 10: The state government’s plan to construct a primary health center within the premises of the Fourteen Gods temple has sparked concerns among the Tripura community. Former Tipra Motha chief and MDC Pradyot Kishore Debbarman recently visited the temple and pointed out the lack of communication from the government regarding the project. He stressed the need to inform the Tripura community about any development activities near the temple to avoid misunderstandings.

Shri Debbarman revealed that several issues have arisen regarding the proposed health center. To address these concerns, he held discussions with MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Secretary Kiran Gitte, and other officials. He described the meeting as a positive step toward resolving the matter and mentioned that another meeting with MLAs and Samajpatis (community leaders) is scheduled in the coming weeks.

Emphasizing the cultural and historical significance of the Fourteen Gods temple, Shri Debbarman highlighted the collective responsibility to preserve its traditions. He reiterated that any development work near the temple should involve prior communication with the Tripura community to prevent potential conflicts and ensure their sentiments are respected.

Local MLA Ratan Chakraborty also acknowledged the misunderstandings surrounding the project. He clarified that the government’s initiative to establish a health center was intended to benefit the community but inadvertently caused concerns among the Tripuras, who believed the construction was taking place within the temple premises. The meeting with Shri Debbarman and other stakeholders aimed to address these issues and find a balanced solution.

Further discussions are expected in the coming weeks to ensure that the traditions and sentiments associated with the Fourteen Gods temple are respected while addressing the health and development needs of the community.
