Agartala, 18th March 2025: The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) staged a protest today, condemning the central budget for failing to address workers’ welfare. As part of a nationwide movement, BMS representatives submitted a deputation to the Union Finance Minister through district magistrates across the country.
In Tripura, the state committee leaders of BMS organised a protest march in Agartala, culminating in the submission of a memorandum of demands to the district magistrate. A leader of the organisation stated that the budget had completely ignored workers, with no provisions for their welfare or job security. In response, BMS units in all districts submitted memoranda as per the state committee’s directive.
The memorandum outlined six key demands, including an immediate halt to 100% foreign investment in the insurance sector and a ban on the sale of public assets. Protesters argued that allowing full foreign investment would jeopardise workers’ interests, and the privatisation of public enterprises would lead to job losses.
BMS leaders warned that if the government fails to address their concerns, the organisation will intensify its agitation. They vowed to continue their fight for workers’ rights and economic security.
