Tripura to Host Its First-Ever Literature Festival, Celebrating Arts and Intellectual Discourse

 


Agartala, Feb 18: Tripura is gearing up to host its inaugural Tripura Literature Festival, a grand celebration of literature, arts, and intellectual exchange. The festival will commence on February 21st, coinciding with International Mother Language Day, at the Rabindra Centenary Building in Agartala. Organized by Udan in collaboration with various institutions, the event will run until February 23rd.

Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha will inaugurate the festival, with Telangana Governor Jishnu Dev Verma also gracing the occasion. The three-day event will feature an impressive lineup of poets, writers, artists, scientists, and intellectuals from across India and abroad. Notable participants include Booker Prize winner Geetanjali Shree, Magsaysay Award recipient Dr. Ravi Kannan, India’s first astronaut scientist Rakesh Sharma, and renowned poet Joy Goswami. Other distinguished guests include filmmaker Anjan Dutt, artist Swagatalakshmi Dasgupta, and musician Raju Baul.

The festival will host a variety of sessions, including discussions linking literature and science, poetry recitations, performances, and book presentations. On February 22nd, Rakesh Sharma will explore the wonders of the universe, while Geetanjali Shree and Bikach Chowdhury will share their literary insights. February 23rd will feature captivating performances by Joy Goswami and Raju Baul.

Adding to the festival’s allure will be an exhibition of sculptures, pottery, and books, alongside a range of food stalls. The event has received generous support from institutions like Techno India University Tripura, ONGC, State Bank of India, and others. Udan, the organizing body, expressed gratitude to all contributors, making the Tripura Literature Festival a landmark event in the state’s cultural history.

This festival promises to be a vibrant platform for celebrating creativity, fostering intellectual dialogue, and showcasing Tripura’s rich cultural heritage to the world.
