Agartala, February 23: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the GST Awareness Campaign and the GST Knowledge Center at Pragya Bhavan today, marking a significant step towards creating a taxpayer-friendly environment in Tripura. Organized by the Tax Organization and the State Finance Department, the event highlighted the government’s commitment to simplifying tax procedures and promoting compliance.
During the program, Dr. Saha honored distinguished taxpayers and department officials for their contributions to the state’s economic growth. He also launched the ‘Mission Zero Fake Registration’ campaign to combat fraudulent GST registrations, unveiled a new GST logo, and introduced ‘Kar Sathi,’ a WhatsApp chatbot designed to assist taxpayers with GST-related queries and services.
In his address, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of a simplified tax structure in fostering industrial growth and economic development. He praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of introducing the Goods and Services Tax (GST) in 2017, which has streamlined the tax system nationwide.
Finance, IT, Planning & Coordination Minister Shri Pranajit Singha Roy and Chief Secretary Shri Jitendra Kumar Sinha were also present at the event. The state government’s focus on modern infrastructure and digital innovations aims to ensure ease of compliance for businesses and individuals, further strengthening Tripura’s economic framework.
