Agartala, February 25: The Tripura BJP has strongly condemned the CPI(M) for its criticism of the central government’s financial assistance to the flood-affected state. Addressing a press conference at the party’s state office on Tuesday, BJP spokesperson Subrata Chakraborty expressed his objections to the CPI(M)’s remarks, which he described as “highly objectionable.”
Chakraborty highlighted the devastating floods that struck Tripura in August last year, triggered by heavy rainfall, calling it the worst natural disaster in the state’s history. The BJP spokesperson claimed that the CPI(M) used such tactics to foster patronage and corruption. He condemned the party’s remarks, stating that it had not moved beyond its old strategies of spreading false narratives to confuse the public.
Chakraborty also praised the state government’s recent decision to fill 315 vacant positions in the cabinet, thanking Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for this initiative. He noted that over 22,000 vacancies had been filled since the BJP came to power in Tripura, with plans to fill an additional 30,000 vacancies in the near future.
The press conference was attended by BJP state general secretary Bipin Debbarma, who echoed Chakraborty’s sentiments. The BJP’s strong rebuttal underscores the ongoing political tensions in the state, with the ruling party accusing the opposition of undermining the government’s efforts to rebuild and
