73rd BN Mallik Memorial All India Police Football Championship Inaugurated in Tripura

  




Agartala, February 24: Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha inaugurated the 73rd BN Mallik Memorial All India Police Football Championship-2024-25 at Umakanta Football Stadium today. 



Celebrating the 150-year legacy of Tripura Police, the Chief Minister highlighted their dual role in maintaining law and order and excelling in sports. He praised the police for ensuring peace in the state and thanked them for organizing the championship, which is being held in Tripura for the first time.






The event features 36 men’s teams and 9 women’s teams from 25 states, 4 union territories, and 7 central forces. Matches will be played across five astroturf grounds in West Tripura, South Tripura, and Gomti districts until March 7.





 Dr. Saha emphasized the importance of such events in fostering camaraderie and cultural exchange among participants. He encouraged players to explore Tripura’s rich cultural and historical heritage.


The Chief Minister also commended the improved law and order situation in Tripura, crediting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah’s ‘Act East Policy’ for accelerating development in the Northeast. He highlighted advancements in infrastructure, including six national highways and the modernization of MBB Airport.



Dignitaries present included State DGP Amitabh Ranjan, ADGP (Training) M Raja Murugan, Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, and DGP Intelligence Anurag Dhankar. ADGP (AP) GS Rao delivered the welcome address. The Chief Minister received a guard of honor and administered the oath to the participating players.
