Illegal alcohol stalls and unauthorised transactions have long plagued Lake Chaumuhani Market, with allegations of land encroachment by unscrupulous traders. Agartala, February 24: Acting on a tip-off, the East Police Station arrested four individuals yesterday for allegedly selling drugs near schools and colleges in the city. The suspects were apprehended from areas near Anandamayi Ashram and College Tila Lake. Police recovered 5.2 grams of heroin packed in 210 small plastic containers, along with ₹4,000 in cash, two mobile phones, and a motorcycle (registration number TR-01-AT-6646) used by the accused. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth over ₹1 lakh in the market, according to Sadar SDPO Debprasad Roy. The arrested individuals have been identified as Robin Deb Nath, Ramjan Ali, Deepak Das, and Rubel Sarkar.
