TSF Advocates for Roman Script Recognition in Kokborok Language



The Twipra Students' Federation (TSF) staged a significant protest at the Gandhi statue near Agartala Circuit House, bringing attention to their demand for recognizing the Kokborok language in Roman script. The demonstration was strategically timed to coincide with the Winter Session of the Tripura Legislative Assembly.

The protest highlighted the cultural significance of adopting the Roman script for Kokborok, a language integral to Tripura's indigenous communities. TSF leaders emphasized that this recognition would play a crucial role in preserving and promoting the language among younger generations. The choice of location near the Circuit House served as a symbolic gesture to ensure their voice reached the state's lawmakers.

In addition to the peaceful demonstration, TSF announced plans for a march to the Legislative Assembly, indicating their commitment to escalating their campaign for linguistic recognition. The organization urged Assembly members to raise this crucial issue during the ongoing session, emphasizing the broader implications for cultural preservation and educational accessibility.

The movement garnered substantial support from youth activists and community members, reflecting the widespread concern for preserving indigenous linguistic heritage. This protest represents the latest development in the ongoing dialogue about language rights and cultural preservation in Tripura.
