Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee has utilized his Members of Parliament Local Area Development (MPLAD) funds to provide two patient transport vehicles to Agartala's GB Hospital. The vehicles, costing ₹12 lakh, were inaugurated today to facilitate internal patient movement.
Prior to his political career, Bhattacharjee earned recognition as a philanthropist focusing on healthcare accessibility in Tripura. His transition from social work to politics has maintained this healthcare focus, now leveraging MPLAD funds for institutional support.
At today's inauguration ceremony, attended by the West Tripura District Magistrate and GB Hospital Medical Superintendent, Bhattacharjee personally launched the vehicles. He noted that this allocation addresses frequent requests from patients and families for improved internal transport facilities.
The vehicles will serve the critical function of transporting patients between different hospital buildings, particularly benefiting those with mobility challenges. This MPLAD fund utilization demonstrates Bhattacharjee's continued commitment to healthcare infrastructure development, building upon his pre-political philanthropy in organizing medical camps and supporting emergency services.
This initiative represents a strategic use of MPLAD funds to address specific healthcare infrastructure gaps, combining Bhattacharjee's experience as a social worker with his current legislative responsibilities.
