National School Games Judo Championship Concludes with Spectacular Performances



The 68th National School Games Judo Championship for Under-17 Girls came to a triumphant close on December 15, 2024, in Agartala, Tripura, marking a significant milestone in young athletes' sporting journeys. The four-day tournament showcased remarkable talent, competitive spirit, and the rising potential of India's young judokas.


The championship's closing ceremony was a momentous occasion, graced by distinguished guests including the Honorable Sports Minister, Sports Secretary, event Director, and the renowned Padma Shri awardee Dr. Dipa Karmakar. Her presence added special significance to the event, inspiring the young athletes with her own remarkable sporting legacy.


The final day of competition was characterized by intense and simultaneous bouts across various weight categories, demonstrating the high level of skill and preparedness of the participants. Tripura's performance was particularly noteworthy, with the home state securing an impressive medal haul of four medals – one Gold, one Silver, and two Bronze. This achievement propelled Tripura to a commendable third place in the overall standings.


Gujarat emerged as the champions of the tournament, displaying exceptional depth and quality in their team's performance. Maharashtra-A claimed the runners-up position, further highlighting the competitive nature of the championship.


Beyond the medals and rankings, the tournament's primary objective was to nurture and identify young sporting talent. The event provided a crucial platform for under-17 girls to showcase their skills, gain competitive experience, and potentially pave the way for future national and international representation in judo.
