Tripura CM Emphasizes Media Skills and Responsibility at Press Club Workshop




Agartala, Nov 30 (PTI): Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated a comprehensive four-day media skill development workshop, underscoring the state government's commitment to supporting and enhancing the capabilities of media professionals while emphasizing their critical societal responsibilities.


Speaking at the inaugural session of the workshop at Agartala Press Club, Dr. Saha highlighted the transformative landscape of media in contemporary times. "Media has undergone massive changes not just in Tripura, but across the country and globally," he remarked, stressing the need for journalists to be vigilant and responsible in their reporting.


The workshop, designed to upgrade skills of journalists and editors, will span four days with distinct focus areas. The first day will be dedicated to print media professionals, while the second and third days will concentrate on electronic and web media workers in the state.


Dr. Saha was unequivocal about the government's stance on media protection. "We never tolerate attacks on journalists and have consistently taken action to address such incidents," he stated. The chief minister emphasized the government's sympathetic approach towards resolving media-related challenges.


Addressing the gathered media professionals, Dr. Saha provided crucial insights into modern journalism. "News should not be converted into views," he cautioned, highlighting the importance of maintaining objectivity and distinguishing between reporting and opinion.


The chief minister also laid the foundation stone for a lift at the Agartala Press Club, symbolizing the government's commitment to improving infrastructure for media professionals.



Agartala Press Club President Jayanta Bhattacharjee and Secretary Roma Kanta Deb were present during the inaugural session, along with former press club secretary Pranab Sarkar.


The workshop aims to equip journalists with advanced skills necessary to navigate the complex media landscape. Participants will receive training on various aspects of journalism, including digital media techniques, ethical reporting, and technological advancements in news gathering and dissemination.


Experts from various media domains are expected to conduct specialized sessions, providing participants with insights into emerging trends and best practices in journalism.


The initiative reflects the state government's proactive approach to supporting media professionals, recognizing their crucial role in democratic discourse and public information dissemination.


As the workshop progresses over the next three days, it is expected to provide a significant platform for skill enhancement and professional development for Tripura's media community.


The event underscores the continued evolution of media infrastructure and professional capabilities in the state, promising a more informed and skilled media ecosystem.
