West Tripura District Administration and Social Welfare Department conducted a critical master volunteer training program on Friday at Birchandra State Library, addressing the escalating challenge of youth drug addiction through the "Drug-Free India" campaign.

- Limited educational and career opportunities
- Psychological stress and mental health challenges
- Social isolation and peer pressure
- Easy accessibility of narcotic substances
- Lack of recreational and constructive engagement alternatives
Additional District Magistrate Sajal Biswas emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive intervention. "Our youth are increasingly trapped in a cycle of substance dependency," he noted, "This training aims to create a robust community network capable of rehabilitation and prevention."
The program engaged 80 volunteers from diverse backgrounds:
- State police personnel
- Medical professionals
- Community representatives
- Social workers
- Youth counselors
Key Training Objectives:
- Identifying early signs of substance abuse
- Developing community-based intervention strategies
- Creating support mechanisms for affected individuals
- Raising awareness about addiction's psychological impacts
- Promoting alternative lifestyle choices.
The initiative represents a holistic approach to combating drug addiction, focusing not just on intervention but on understanding underlying societal challenges that push youth towards destructive behaviors.
By mobilizing community resources and creating a network of trained volunteers, West Tripura aims to address substance abuse systematically, offering hope and practical solutions to vulnerable youth.
