In Tripura's Sonamura Sub-division, a tragic incident unfolded on Sunday night when Border Security Force (BSF) personnel fatally shot a 48-year-old man named Alamgir Hossain, suspected of involvement in cattle smuggling. The incident took place in Durgapur village, situated along the international border with Bangladesh. Reports suggest that a group of alleged cattle smugglers was in the midst of transporting cows to Bangladesh when BSF No. 133 battalion soldiers came across the scene. An attempt to apprehend the smugglers led to a confrontation, during which the BSF personnel were reportedly attacked. In response, the BSF opened fire, causing Alamgir Hossain, who was allegedly connected to the smuggling operation, to succumb to his injuries on the spot.
