Tripura's Fisheries Minister, Sudhangshu Das, has announced proactive measures to boost fish production in the state due to the high demand for fish among its population.

During a state-level review meeting, Minister Das mentioned that they had previously set quarterly targets for fish production enhancement during an initial meeting held in April. In this second review meeting, they will assess the progress made in the last quarter and plan for the next three months.

Minister Das emphasized the significance of fish in the diet of Tripura's population, with about 95% of people consuming fish regularly. This high demand has highlighted the need to increase local fish production.

He also mentioned that the Fisheries Department is actively working on various initiatives to achieve this goal. These initiatives may include infrastructure development and government programs aimed at enhancing fish production.

Additionally, the department is considering offering fish at reduced prices during the Durga Puja festival, indicating their commitment to ensuring fish accessibility during important cultural and religious events.
