The Indian Central Government's decision to declare the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) as unlawful associations .

The Indian Central Government has taken a firm stance against insurgent activities that pose a threat to regional peace and stability by declaring the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) as unlawful associations. In a decisive move aimed at curbing armed secessionist activities and safeguarding the sovereignty and integrity of India, the Central Government has officially designated NLFT and ATTF as unlawful entities. This declaration, effective as of October 3, 2023, and valid for a five-year duration, encompasses all factions, wings, and front organizations affiliated with these groups. It comes amidst concerns raised by Indian intelligence agencies, warning of potential attempts to draw the youth of Tripura away from mainstream life through various political conspiracies of regional parties. The Indian Central Government's decision to declare the National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT) and All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) as unlawful associations reflects a strong commitment to maintaining regional peace and stability in the face of insurgent activities. This move, effective from October 3, 2023, for a five-year period, encompasses all factions, wings, and front organizations associated with these outfits, sending a clear message that such activities will not be tolerated.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has provided several compelling justifications for this declaration:

1. **Subversive and Violent Actions:** NLFT and ATTF have been engaged in a series of subversive and violent actions aimed at undermining the government's authority and spreading fear and terror among the people. Their primary objective has been to establish an independent nation by seceding Tripura from India, posing a direct challenge to the country's sovereignty and integrity.

2. **Ties with Other Unlawful Associations:** These organizations have maintained close connections with other unlawful groups in the northeastern region, seeking to gain support for their secessionist agenda. This networking of unlawful elements poses a significant threat to the region's stability.

3. **Violence and Unlawfulness:** NLFT and ATTF's recent activities have been marked by violence and unlawful behavior, resulting in the loss of life. Their targets have included civilians, police personnel, and security forces, which has further escalated concerns about regional safety.

4. **Extortion of Funds:** The groups have resorted to extortion to finance their unlawful activities, targeting the public, including businessmen and traders in Tripura. This extortion has not only disrupted the economic fabric of the region but also fueled their violent activities.

5. **Camps in Neighboring Countries:** NLFT and ATTF have established and maintained camps in neighboring countries for various purposes, including as safe havens, training facilities, and for the procurement of arms and ammunition. This international dimension to their activities poses a threat not only to Tripura but to regional stability as well.

The Central Government's declaration under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967, demonstrates its resolve to curb the unlawful activities of NLFT and ATTF. It is a crucial step in ensuring the safety and security of the region and its residents. Moreover, the government's concerns about the potential for these organizations to engage in anti-national activities in collusion with external forces hostile to India's sovereignty underscores the gravity of the situation and the need for swift action to prevent further escalation of secessionist activities in Tripura.
