In Tripura, the state government, led by Chief Minister Manik Saha, is gearing up to introduce a unique subsidized "gift hamper" for all ration card holders as part of the Durga Puja celebrations. This hamper will comprise essential provisions such as one liter of mustard oil, one kilogram of lentils, two kilograms of flour, one kilogram of sugar, 500 grams of rava, and atta. Notably, the mustard oil will be offered at a reduced price of Rs 113 per liter, thanks to an additional subsidy of Rs 15 per liter provided by the government. These items will be distributed in eco-friendly canvas bags, with 3.58 lakh bags already in the state out of a total requirement of nine lakh bags for the program. Additionally, ration card holders will receive subsidized mustard oil four times a year, fulfilling a commitment made by the BJP prior to the recent Assembly elections. Furthermore, it was announced that 635 laborers engaged in various tasks within the food and civil supplies department will receive an ex gratia payment of Rs 2,000 this year.
