On September 29, the Tripura Police made a significant breakthrough in their fight against illegal narcotics, seizing a cache of banned substances with an estimated market value of Rs 5 lakh. This operation was carried out under the leadership of Officer In Charge of the Sonamura Police Station, Paritosh Das, who disclosed that the intelligence used to uncover this illicit stash had been undisclosed.

The contraband confiscated during the operation consisted of 650 bottles of Phensidyl and Eskuf, both of which are banned cough syrups. These substances are often abused for their narcotic effects, posing a serious threat to public health and safety.

The focus of the operation was a residence in Bejimara, situated within the Sonamura Sub-division of Tripura's Sepahijala district. The occupants of this residence, Sabuj Rahman, Jalil Miah, and Alamgir Hussain, have now come under the scrutiny of the law. Jalil Miah and Alamgir Hussain, who hail from Jatrapur in Sepahijala district, have been arrested in connection with the seizure and are set to face legal proceedings.

Officer Paritosh Das emphasized that the arrested individuals will be produced before the court as part of the ongoing legal process related to this significant narcotics seizure. This operation stands as a testament to the dedication and effectiveness of the Tripura Police in combating the illegal drug trade, which remains a pressing concern for authorities nationwide.
