Tripura Launches e-Cabinet, Achieves Digital Governance Milestone
Tripura's Chief Minister, Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, marked a significant milestone by launching the e-Cabinet system, positioning the state as the fourth in India to embrace digital governance. This move aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Digital India initiative and furthers the state's commitment to smart governance. The inauguration of the e-Cabinet at the Secretariat was followed by the first Council of Ministers meeting conducted entirely without paper. Dr. Saha highlighted the state government's dedication to implementing e-Office in a mission mode, inspired by PM Modi's vision of digitization.
Tripura's adoption of the E-Cabinet system places it ahead of many states, with only Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and Arunachal Pradesh having ventured into this digital realm before. Among the 28 states, Tripura now ranks fourth in this progressive transition.
The primary objective of the E-Office and E-Cabinet systems is to address the challenges posed by extensive paper records while enhancing accountability in governance. By digitizing documents and processes, the state aims to make information easily accessible, improving efficiency, and ensuring a seamless experience for both administrators and citizens.
Approximately 4,250 individuals from 94 departments in Tripura have already received training in digital governance, with ongoing efforts to equip more personnel with the necessary skills. This digital transformation promises not only improved accessibility but also a more streamlined and transparent government for the benefit of future generations.
