Minister Ratan Lal Nath's Strong Warning Against Construction Extortion Mafias in Mohanpur

 Agartala 23. 09.2023 :

In a resolute address at a program following the inauguration of two vital road construction projects in Mohanpur, Agriculture and Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath issued a stern warning to mafia elements operating across the state. He cautioned against their illicit activities, which involve extorting money from government-contracted construction projects, and emphasized that such actions would no longer be tolerated.

The first road, spanning over ten kilometers, will commence near the Mohanpur SDM office and extend through Gazaria to Chhechuria, while the second road will cover another ten kilometers, connecting Mohanpur Market to Abhicharan Market via the Jigaria and Dime Mara regions. These projects fall under the 'Bharat Nirman' and Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana schemes, aiming to enhance infrastructure in the region.

Minister Nath underscored the significance of these road constructions for the benefit of the local population. He expressed concern about instances where roads had been pilfered from the knowledge center in the Kalagachhi area, resulting in work stoppages. He firmly stated that these roads were essential for the people's welfare, and any disruptions caused by anti-social elements engaging in theft, robbery, or contractor extortion would be met with decisive government intervention.

Highlighting the importance of contractor safety and uninterrupted progress, Minister Nath urged the community to support and cooperate with the contractors, ensuring the roads' durability. He emphasized that quality improvements would naturally follow when contractors can work without the looming threat of extortion. With an investment exceeding Rs 25 crores in these two roads, Minister Nath called upon citizens to actively participate in safeguarding and contributing to the success of these crucial infrastructure projects.
