Assembly of Journalists member Prateek Mahalanbish was attacked by miscreants last night when he went to West Agartala police station to report that he was misbehaved by some police officers.

In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Agartala, Prateek Mahalanbish, a member of the Assembly of Journalists, was brutally attacked by miscreants last night. This horrifying incident unfolded when Prateek, a responsible citizen, was returning home from his office. He noticed a couple in a park adjacent to his property at the late hour of 11 pm. Concerned for the safety of his neighborhood, he approached them, asking about their presence at such a late hour.

What started as a simple inquiry quickly escalated into an argument. This confrontation eventually drew the attention of some troublemakers who, without any regard for law or civility, invaded Prateek's home and subjected him to a vicious attack. Fearing for his life and well-being, Prateek made the courageous decision to report the incident to the West Agartala police station.

However, instead of providing the necessary support and hearing his grievance, the police took a shocking turn. They accused Prateek of intoxication, a claim seemingly fabricated to divert attention from the seriousness of the assault. To make matters worse, the attending doctor at the hospital, acting upon the police's request, issued a report claiming Prateek had tested positive for intoxication without conducting any proper examination.

This alarming sequence of events has shaken the trust of citizens in the police force. When law enforcement officers themselves appear complicit in such unjust actions, it raises questions about the fundamental principles of justice and security. The incident has prompted other journalists to rally around Prateek's cause, demanding a thorough investigation into the matter.

Following a meeting with the Inspector General of Police, the collective of journalists seeking justice for Prateek has been assured that a high-level inquiry will be conducted. It's worth noting that the absence of the State Police Director General during this critical time is a matter of concern and must be addressed.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of upholding the rule of law and ensuring that the protectors of justice are held accountable for their actions. The citizens of Agartala deserve to feel safe and protected, and it is crucial that transparency and accountability prevail in this case. Only then can faith in the justice system be restored and the security of the community be assured.
