On a recent Sunday, the Shishu Vihar Alumni Association in collaboration with Shishu Vihar School organized a blood donation camp at the school's auditorium. The event was inaugurated by notable figures including Mayor Deepak Majumdar, SMC Committee Chairman Arup Dev, Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Arup Dev, and Corporator Shikha Banerjee. Mayor Deepak Majumdar highlighted the importance of blood donation and mentioned the presence of twelve state-owned blood banks and two private blood banks in Agartala.

The roots of Shishu Vihar School trace back to 1954, when the State Government initiated the establishment of a Nursery School based on the Montessori education system. To achieve this goal, three teachers, namely Smt. Maya Chakraborty, Smt. Lalita Bose, and Smt. Gita Datta, were sent to Delhi for Montessori training. The school's first batch of students was enrolled in July 1954, initially housed in the old hostel of Maharani Tulshibati Girls H.S. School, located across from the present Press Club. In 1956, the school found its permanent location at Officers Quarters.

During this time, Smt. Sutapa Banerjee served as the Headmistress of the school. Shishu Vihar quickly gained popularity and recognition, attracting attention as a Nursery School of distinction. In its pursuit of excellence, the school recruited dedicated educators from various regions, including those beyond the state's boundaries. A significant milestone in the school's journey was the induction of Miss Arati Patra, facilitated by Dr. G.N. Chatterjee, an eminent Educationist and the then Director of Education. Miss Patra played a pivotal role in nurturing and developing Shishu Vihar from its infancy. She saw the children as blooming flowers in a garden, emphasizing their beauty and purity.

During its early stages, Shishu Vihar operated as a close-knit community with a limited number of students and teachers, fostering a familial atmosphere. The absence of a school uniform was deliberate, as Miss Patra believed that uniforms could hinder the holistic growth of young minds. Instead, she likened the children to colorful butterflies fluttering around the school grounds. It wasn't until 1981 that the introduction of school uniforms took place, marking a new phase in the school's evolution.
